With autumn here – more or less – and winter not far behind, I’ve been adding a few things to fill in some holes in my wardrobe.
Over the last several days, I have had a couple new suits fitted, ordered several new shirts and ties, and a sweet pair of Chelsea boots with a matching belt.
It’s going to be three to four weeks before the suits are ready for final fitting. A week or two for the shirts to arrive from the UK, and several weeks to have the boots crafted.
One would think, after so many years, this would all not be a big deal, but it instills a similar anticipation to what I used to feel as a child when Christmas was approaching.
The only difference now is I know what I’m getting – no surprises – but the giddiness is just as real as when I was putting out milk and cookies for Santa. In other words, it’s an enjoyable feeling.
The suits will be the subject of a separate post soon. The shirts & ties are from Charles Tyrwhitt in London, and the Chelsea boots & belt are from Allen Edmonds.
If the finished outfits are near what they look like in my mind, then the anticipation will give way to great satisfaction … and style.
